Jonathan Ray-Smith is a civil litigation specialist with over 15 years of professional experience since qualifying at Wedlake Bell in London in 1993, gained at Rooks Rider and at Hughmans (where he was a partner) until joining McFaddens in 2004.
Jonathan acts for both corporate and private clients in a diversity of civil litigation cases in the County and High Court, the Court of Appeal, House of Lords, Employment Tribunals and Public Inquiries.
He has been involved in numerous multi-million pound commercial claims involving breach of contract, breach of trust, misrepresentation, negligence, breach of confidence and civil fraud. A number of cases in which he has acted have been reported in law reports and journals, for example, Wattleworth v Goodwood Road Racing Club, RACMSA and FIA [2004] EWHC 140 (QB) (a leading authority on the duty of care owed by sporting and regulatory bodies).
Jonathan regularly advises on employment law with particular reference to : the termination of executive employment contracts (unfair/wrongful dismissal) the negotiation of severance packages and the enforceability of restrictive covenants.
Jonathan also acts for private clients working in the City of London in relation to Financial Services Authority insider dealing and market abuse cases.
